Superstition.

It's sad to see how my life and the things I represent have become twisted through the ages. I was the goddess of war and death, and yet people perceive that as something horrible. The raven is my companion, but the only thing that is thought of these days in connection to ravens is the poem by Poe.

"Quoth the raven..."

Pumpkins that are used on Samhain now have scary faces inscribed into them to promote "Halloween". Nothing is as it was.

Superstition overtook my land and my way of things long ago when Arthur worked with Merlin to bring the One God into Camelot. Women with power were perceived as creatures of evil -- such is the way of things for myself today. I am the evil enchantress that seduced her brother and bore a child, or perhaps I am the goddess that kills with a raven by her side. Sometimes I am merely human, but a witch... and witchcraft is the source of the devil's work.

None of these are the true tale. Almost none seek to find the truth of Avalon and its priestesses these days, either. I'm not angry at the lies -- merely saddened by the superstitious lot that would deny women power or seek to change history to suit someone else's desires.

There were times that I was angry, of course, but these days I've learned that teaching changes more than anger. Truth, of course, can heal. So, this is my truth and listen well.

I am goddess, human, priestess, witch, creator, destroyer, lover, hater. I am everything and nothing. I am the whisper on the wind, the heat of the candle's flame. The Goddess is in me, yet I am Her. Witchcraft is not the work of the devil, faeries exist, and Avalon is not lost in the mists as some would claim.

I am Morgan, simple and true. Believe in me and not superstitions that have been passed down through generations, and you will know for yourself as well.

Do people truly confuse you with my mother?

The Morrighan?

January 16 2006, 23:56:04 UTC 6 years ago

Yes.

ooc: Only a couple of sources I've found that list his mother, but both list the Morrigan as her. We used to have a Morrigan in TM as well, so he got all happy to have family around. He's so confused now. *g*

At times. Then, of course, at times she is me. The lines blur between goddess and priestess, Lord.

OOC : Oh, poor thing! Morgan's not helping him with her vagueness. *L* I'm trying to stick to just Arthurian lore, but she wanted to talk about every "version" of her for this one.

I know this well, Lady. But she also has her own body, in her own realm behind the veil and 'twas that body gave birth to me, not you.

OOC: He's likely going to make everyone go "huh?" with his, 'cause at one point he's going on about toy Fir Bolgs and Tuatha de Dannann his son liked to play with. He's a strange, strange boy.

I've crossed the veil between worlds many times, Lord. And I am the Mother to all, as well.

Have you misplaced your mother?

OOC : *facepalm*

I haven't misplaced her. She had a nice flat in Boston for a while, wanting to walk the world as I was, then was called home.

That's not misplacing.

OOC: He rambled. For 940 words. He never rambles.

Boston?

*shakes head*

Why do you wish to walk with mortals, Lord? You've seen the glory of the Summerland.

OOC : Morgan is being difficult. In my head. And laughing at his rambling.

Boston, yes. Many of our people are here, after all.

*simply*

My Lady is here.

ooc: *pets her* Keelia won't talk at all, so. Heh. And he's just so strange here lately.

Is that the only reason?

OOC : Morgan is still laughing. *L*

I've made friends here, but yes. I stay for my Lady.

OOC: I'm rolling my eyes.

A pity that's the only reason. I'd hoped it would be at least for curiousity, or to spread our ways once more to the masses.

I didn't say I wasn't curious. It is a fascinating world. And many are finding their way back to our ways. I'm no religious revloutionary. They will believe as they choose whether I will it or no.

Really? And in the meantime you sit back with your... "lady"? How will they ever show you proper respect, Lord, if the truth isn't known, hmm?

[info]rogue_charmer

January 17 2006, 03:04:25 UTC 6 years ago

Lady? Most of them don't know my way. Father and Grandmother reap the glory, as is their right.

[info]morgannalefay

January 17 2006, 03:28:58 UTC 6 years ago

And you have no right at all? Come, come, surely you wish to show the light to others.

OOC : Sorry. Morgan is being a troublemaker. *g*

[info]rogue_charmer

January 17 2006, 03:39:52 UTC 6 years ago

The light, Lady? You sound like one of the Martyr's priests.

ooc: *g* so we see

[info]morgannalefay

January 17 2006, 04:02:06 UTC 6 years ago

Why would you say that, Lord?

[info]rogue_charmer

January 17 2006, 04:12:29 UTC 6 years ago

All this showing the way discussion.

[info]morgannalefay

January 18 2006, 20:20:00 UTC 6 years ago

Well, once you've discovered a means to get your Lady to stop being "stubborn", as you say, come back to me and we shall have this discussion once more.

[info]rogue_charmer

January 18 2006, 20:59:54 UTC 6 years ago

What does my Lady's stubbornness have to do with your religious fervor?

[info]morgannalefay

January 19 2006, 01:06:11 UTC 6 years ago

*laughs* Why do you think I have "religious fervor"?

I truly have no idea, Lady. I'm fond of my grandmother, and grateful to her, but I don't feel the need to make sure everyone worships her.
